Guide Dogs Tasmania is committed to creating an environment where volunteers become valued team members. Matching the needs of the Association with the abilities and interests of our volunteers is the task of a skilled Volunteer Co-ordinator.
We rely heavily on volunteers, statewide, to ensure the success of our numerous activities in the fundraising sector for major events, including collectors for button day, our doorknock appeal and mini dogs, merchandising, raffle ticket sales as well as various day to day office based assistance. Our Guide Dog Department also relies on the constant and outstanding support our puppy raising volunteers give to our Association. Without their caring ways and selfless commitment, the training and care of our Guide Dog puppies during their first twelve months would be extremely difficult.
The support and skills that our dedicated team of volunteers bring to our Association is invaluable. We would find the immense task of generating funds to continue to provide services free of charge to blind and vision impaired citizens in Tasmania almost impossible without their generous help.
To all the wonderful volunteers at Guide Dogs Tasmania we salute you! Thank you for your dedication and the giving of your time so freely.
If you would like to become part of our team we would like to hear from you. Please ring our office in your area for further information.
Each month we reflect on the services of a volunteer and our star this month in Bob Macfarlane.
Bob started with our Association in October 1997 and to date has worked over 7,000 hours! What an achievement!.
Bob currently is the coordinator of our chocolate programme, in the South, which involves the ordering of stock, overseeing stocktake and new volunteers, and servicing the sites in northern suburbs.
A positive attitude, willingness to achieve and reliability are second nature to Bob.
We would like to thank Bob for his commitment and service to our Association.
A truly valued volunteer.
Please take a look at our Puppy love site. We have a lot of articles about raising and training a puppy and more puppy photos!!
