Thankyou to Aurora Energy…

Aurora Energy are the proud sponsors of Gadget, a black Labrador puppy born in October 2004. Gadget was placed with his Puppy Raising family, John, Marlene and their two children in December 2004.

With John being an employee of Aurora, Gadget is a regular in the Aurora offices. John's employment requires a substantial amount of travel, which provides excellent opportunities for Gadget to be thoroughly socialised.
It also provides plenty of opportunities for Aurora staff throughout the state to get to know Gadget and to learn about the contribution Aurora Energy are making to Guide Dogs Tasmania.

It is important to realise, however, that neither Aurora nor John and Marlene are newcomers to our Guide Dog puppies.

Guide Dog Puppy Gadget is the second puppy that Aurora has sponsored and both have been raised by John and his family. Guide Dog Puppy Kenya, a Curly Coat Retriever X Labrador and the first Aurora puppy, was a particular favourite in Aurora offices around the state. Kenya also spent considerable amounts of time representing Aurora and their support of Guide Dogs Tasmania amongst some of Aurora Energy's larger corporate clients. This is a role that Gadget has now taken on and he is doing a marvellous job.

Meanwhile Kenya (left) has completed his training and successfully graduated as a Guide Dog. Kenya's responsibilities have now changed: instead of being a well-behaved puppy, relaxing with John and Marlene; he is now a working Guide Dog, providing safety, independence and mobility to a vision impaired person. And just as importantly, he has also proven to be a trusted and loyal friend.

We would very much like to thank Aurora Energy for their support of Guide Dogs Tasmania. Without the ongoing support of all of our sponsors, including Aurora Energy, we could not continue to allow puppies like Kenya and Gadget to reach their full potential as Guide Dogs.

A message from Aurora

Aurora Energy proudly sponsors the Guide Dog Training Program, a project echoing the Company’s purpose:
To See the Tasmanian Community Prosper from Our Efforts.

John Lovell’s visits with his guide dog puppy are always welcome by Aurora employees, instilling a sense of shared achievement from the early training to graduation stages.

Knowing the pup will one day become a vision impaired person’s guide and best friend is gratifying, and a credit to both John and the Association.

Aurora Energy looks forward to the program’s continued success and many more visits from John and his puppy in training.
