With the arrival of nine week old “Ava”, The Deloitte Foundation is continuing to forge a strong community partnership with Royal Guide Dogs Tasmania.
Deloitte Tasmania Office Managing Partner, Rod Whitehead, is calling on other Tasmanian businesses to take up the puppy sponsorship challenge.
“I can’t believe the impact the Guide Dog puppy raising has had on our people. They have really taken this sponsorship to heart. The community spirit that I’ve witnessed has been astounding! The whole office is so proud that we have been able to help a blind or vision impaired Tasmanian. Knowing that as a team we can change someone’s life, is a great feeling.”
After a visit with 7HO FM's “Breakfast With The Stars” team, Ava and Annie headed to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens and a red carpet reception.
The yellow Labrador sisters are nine weeks old and made their first appearance at the Botanical Gardens on Wednesday, August 18, to an adoring audience.
The puppies’ arrival in Tasmania will be a first step on the long road to becoming a Guide Dog. For the next 16 months they will live with volunteer Puppy Raisers in New Town and Austin’s Ferry who will socialise them and ensure the development of good behaviour.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer Puppy Raising family or short term boarder for our pups, please fill in and return the application form.
Once your application form has been received you will be invited along to an information session to learn more about the Puppy Development Program within Tasmania.
For more information please call 6232 1222 and request an information pack be posted out to you.
Royal Guide Dogs Tasmania’s fundraising department is made up of mostly volunteers, but recently we have noticed a downward trend in volunteer numbers.
Royal Guide Dogs Tasmania has a 50 year history of fundraising. An activity that brings in the money required to provide support and services to vision impaired Tasmanians. As a non government, not for profit organisation we rely heavily on the continued generosity of the Tasmanian public and business community who provide ongoing financial and volunteer support.
Volunteering is very satisfying, and the reward you get is knowing that your time is going to support such a worthy cause. You get to meet heaps of really great people and we have a lot of fun along the way so if you can help please contact us on 1800 062 074.
