Doorknocking

Your assistance with the annual Guide Dogs Tasmania doorknock would be greatly appreciated.

Our doorknock is the single largest fundraising effort undertaken by the Association and its success is due soley to the enormous contribution made by volunteers such as yourself.

Information for collectors

You may find that you do not have time to complete your allocated areas. Don't be concerned becuase it's nearly impossible to reach every household.

Sometimes, you may find your map a little hard to follow. If the outer line of the shaded area passes along a street, collect only on the side of the street within the shaded area. Should you have any doubt about a particular house, don't knock, in order to avoid overlapping with other collectors.

Experience over the years shows that the best approach is a personal one, so introduce yourself by name. The full name of the Association can be a mouthful just say "Guide Dogs" or "Guide Dogs Tasmania".

The best times to collect are mid to late afternoon on a Saturday or Sunday, or Sunday morning after 10:30am. You may also collect on weekdays either side of the weekend between the hours of 9am and 7pm.

Avoid houses with aggressive dogs and try to find the front door. Some people object to callers at the back door.

Some people already donate to Guide Dogs or buy merchandise from Telemarketing. Please acknowledge this support, if they decline to donate to the doorknock.

Please write a receipt for ALL donations. It is important to leave a donation slip if no-one is at home.

At the conclusion of your doorknock, please complete the appeal slip in the bag and return the bag to your co-ordinator.

Our thanks again, for your very kind assistance.
