Finally!!!! On 25 November 2006 we conducted our official opening for our new Guide Dog Kennels. The event was attended by over 100 puppy raisers, guide dog handlers, sponsors, staff, supporters and even a couple of politicians.
We also had more than 30 guide dogs of all ages.
The duties of officially opening the kennels was handled admirably by The Honorable Mr Michael Polley, Speaker of the House of Assembly. This is the second time Michael has officially opened our kennels, but this time our kennels are much more impressive.
Our President of the Board, Mr Mike Harris was also on hand to assist with the official duties.
After the opening was done and dusted, we all retired for a few celebratory drinks, courtesy of our sponsors Coca Cola and J. Boag and Sons.
The day was captured beautifully by local photographer, Jonathan Wherrett. Jonathan's photos are an excellent reflection of the day and captures the magnificent setting of our kennels and the beautiful weather we enjoyed. Whilst we have included a couple of Jonathan's images here, you can view the full range of photographs at his website. We would like to thank Jonathan for donating his time on the day and for the great photos.
Guide Dogs cost us $25,000 to raise from puppies. By buying raffle tickets you will directly contribute towards training future Guide Dogs.
